> Minors participating in the 13 km hike: they are not required to provide any documentation, as the hike is not timed.
Is it possible to register in any other way than online?
No, all registrations must be made online at the following address: www.njuko.net/lavenivici-2024
Registration files sent by email or mail will not be taken into account.
Is it necessary to have a sports license to participate?
Absolutely not. La Veni Vici is open to anyone who is normally constituted and preferably in good health, regardless of their level of practice in running. Practitioners of other sports disciplines, licensed or not, are welcome, as well as hikers.
Medical Certificate: New Participation Conditions since April 1, 2024
In accordance with Law No. 2022-296 of March 2, 2022, aimed at democratizing sports in France, and the guidelines of the French Athletics Federation (FFA), the medical certificate is no longer mandatory when registering for running competitions for non-license holders. It is replaced by a digital process, called the “Health Prevention Course” (pps.athle.fr), a four-step tool aimed at raising awareness of the risks, precautions, and recommendations related to the health of runners, which takes no more than 3 minutes and 30 seconds.
At the end of this Health Prevention Course, a certificate will be available for download, with a unique registration number that you will need to enter in your online registration form.
ATTENTION: The Health Prevention Course certificate has a validity of 3 months. Participants are invited via email to complete the Health Prevention Course starting from August 10, 2024, and to provide the information in their registration profile.
For FFA license holders:
– As long as they hold a valid Competition, Running, or Corporate license on the day of the event (2024-2025 season), they only need to enter their license number in their online profile to complete their registration.
– Individuals holding other FFA licenses (Leisure Health, Coaching, Discovery, Pass I love running) will be required to provide the Health Prevention Course certificate in their online registration process.
Participants in the 27 km Nordic walking (timed) can simply provide a Health Prevention Course certificate instead of their sports license or a medical certificate, dated within 3 months of the event.
Participants in the 13 km hike, where participation is not timed and there is no ranking, do not need to provide any supporting documents, whether they are adults or minors.
Which sports licenses are accepted?
Allowed for the 82 km / 47 km / 27 km / 14 km run, without the need for PPS:
- Competition, Running, and Corporate licenses issued by the FFA, valid at the date of the event. All other licenses issued by the FFA (Health, Coaching, and Discovery) and licenses previously issued by other sports federations approved by the FFA now require the provision of a PPS certificate dated within 3 months before the event date.
Is providing a medical certificate still mandatory for timed runners and Nordic walkers?
Since April 1, 2024, the medical certificate is no longer mandatory and is replaced by the Health Prevention Course (PPS), a tool provided by the French Athletics Federation aimed at raising awareness of risks, precautions, and recommendations related to the health of runners.
At the end of this course, which will be available on your online registration profile for the Veni Vici event within 3 months prior to the event, you will be able to download a certificate serving as a ‘Health Passport.’ In other words, there is no longer a need to visit a doctor, neither for French participants nor for foreigners!
Since the PPS is valid for 3 months, participants will receive an email invitation to complete the Health Prevention Course starting from August 10, 2024. Do not fill in the PPS field on your online registration profile before this date, as your certificate number will not be validated and you will need to redo it.
What are the conditions to participate in the 13 km hike?
La Veni Vici also offers a 13 km hiking format on a marked non-timed course that will allow you to discover the Pont du Gard Site’s magical surroundings. Hiking sticks are allowed, and registration is not conditioned by a level of practice. The hike is open to all healthy individuals, starting at the age of 7 for those who want to participate as a family. The only condition is to be born before 31.12.2017. No medical certificate is required for the hike, as it does not result in a ranking.
Can I register on site during the event weekend?
NO. No registration can be made on site, even if other participants cancel. If there are any spots left (highly unlikely, as Veni Vici sells out every year), online registrations will remain open until Friday, November 8, 2024, at 7:00 PM. Due to the high demand for Veni Vici (with 7,300 participants in 2023), we strongly encourage you to register as early as possible, otherwise, you may be disappointed!
Where can I consult la Veni Vici regulations?
Just ask… here’s the link.
What happens to my registration if the event is postponed or canceled?
In the event that VENI VICI cannot take place for any reason beyond our control – such as a major weather event or a public health crisis resulting in the cancellation of public events – no bib will be refunded.
Depending on when the event cancellation is announced, a partial refund or rescheduling of the registration may potentially be offered by the organization, without obligation on their part.
Will a health pass be mandatory for la Veni Vici 2024?
As of now, no, a valid health pass is no longer required to participate in outdoor sports events in France, as all health restrictions have been lifted.
However, in the event that health measures are reintroduced, the organizers of la Veni Vici would be required to apply them during the event weekend. All registered individuals will be required to accept and comply with these measures.

Don’t worry if we are more than three months away from the event: from August 10, 2024, you will be able to upload your PPS certificate in your online registration area. We will send you an email on that date inviting you to provide your health certificate, which replaces the medical certificate requirement, for both French and foreign nationals.

The courses
What is the technical difficulty level of la Veni Vici?
While some may suffer during the Veni Vici due to lack of training, a too-fast start, or just an off day… keep a close watch on your surroundings and your footing. You will be following one of the most remarkable structures in the world, inherited from ancient builders: the Nîmes aqueduct, built 2,000 years ago. Unique and magical. We could have added more elevation gain, more technicality, more… STOP. We settled for tracing what we thought was the most BEAUTIFUL in the area around the Roman aqueduct, with a maximum of variety on the proposed routes.
In terms of route, la Veni Vici is a real cure for boredom: it turns, it goes up (a little, but never for long), it goes down (a little, sometimes often), it’s sometimes rolling (not too much though), it’s technical just enough, with very little asphalt, in a privileged environment.
Starting from medieval Uzès or the Pont du Gard (depending on the chosen format), you’ll travel back in time through the fragrant garrigue, cross charming, well-preserved villages in the Gard, and marvel at Roman engineering, all the way to the grand finale: arriving in the most Roman of French cities, the beautiful Nemausus (Nîmes), the endpoint of the Roman aqueduct of Nîmes. In terms of eye-catching scenery and a workout for your legs, you’re in for a royal treat!
Is la Veni Vici a real trail or rather a sequence of small roads and paths like on the SaintéLyon?
Despite its rolling profile (2200 M+, a trifle, right?), la Veni Vici is sneaky. Watch out for speeding in the first few kilometers after leaving Uzès. A series of ups and downs awaits you in the initial kilometers, with an unprecedented passage at the orientation table where you’ll have a unique view of the Duchy of Uzès. The route will be relatively ‘gentle’ until the Pont du Gard, with at least 95% of it on trails, so make sure to pace yourself! Once you’ve crossed the Gardon, get ready for a rollercoaster of a ride for several kilometers. The asphalt sections will be limited to village crossings and the finish in Nîmes. As for the rest: it’s all wilderness! And then there’s that wonderful scent of thyme in the garrigue… You’ll need to savor it and give it your all on the trail of the ancient builders, young centurion!
Is there a minimum level of running or trail experience required?
NO, la Veni Vici is absolutely not reserved for experienced competitors: even novice runners have their place, without any time limits on the 14 km and 27 km courses, to fully enjoy the routes. The courses are fully marked and secured, without any overly technical sections. And if running really scares you, you can always opt for the 27 km nordic walking or the 13 km hiking format (which replaces the old “gourmet walk”). It is precisely this variety of options that makes la Veni Vici so popular.
The 14 km run (loop around the Pont du Gard site) in particular is accessible even to people who have never worn a bib in their life (most people end up hooked). This will give you some muscle soreness on J+2, but that’s what motivates you, right? 😉
Are there time barriers?
There will only be time barriers for runners participating in the 82 km, 47 km races and the 27 races (run and Nordic Walking). The title of “finisher” in la VENI VICI is earned, but don’t panic, the time barriers are very lenient (to say the least), to bring as many participants back home as possible,. We hope you’ll be able to progress throughout the day without the fear of the cutoff time, which can sometimes spoil the enjoyment.
> For the 82 km race: Two elimination time barriers based on an average speed of 5.3 km/h will be set up: – At Pont du Gard refreshment station, located at km 33,12 (the time limit is 6 hours, 14 minutes and 00 seconds from the start) – At Lédenon refreshment station, located at km 49,59 (the time limit is 9 hours, 21 minutes, and 00 seconds from the start). Maximum race time = 15h25’00”.
> For the 47 km race: One elimination time barrier will be set up at the passage based on an average speed of 5.1 km/h at the liquid refreshment station in Cabrières at km 23,27 (the time limit is 4 hours, 33 minutes, and 00 seconds from the start). Maximum race time = 9h22’00”
> For the 27 km (RUN): A time barrier (eliminatory) will be set based on an average speed of 5.25 km/h at the Argilliers refreshment station at km 18.01 (3h25’00” from the start). Maximum race time = 5h19’00”.
> For the 27 km Nordic Walk: A time cutoff (eliminatory) will be in place based on an average speed of 4 km/h at the Argilliers aid station at km 18.01 (4h30’00” from the start). Maximum race time = 6h59’00”.
> For the other formats (13 km run and hiking): go at your own pace and open your eyes wide to fully enjoy the courses through our superb landscapes and the Roman heritage of the Gard region.

What is the exact elevation gain for each route?
Subject to minor changes based on possible adjustments to the routes, the elevations are as follows (note: do not rely on the elevation information on the Openrunner tracks, which are incorrect):
– 82 km (Nîmes > Pont du Gard > Uzès): 2200 M+
– 47 km (Nîmes > Pont du Gard): 1250 M+
– 27 km run & nordic walk (Pont du Gard > Uzès): 700 M+
– 13 km run and hike (loop on the Pont du Gard site): 330 M+
> For more informations about the courses, it’s here

My participation / Trail week-end
Where is the Pont du Gard located?
Well, we’ll forgive your geographical approximations if you’re from far away. But we’re still talking about a major tourist site in France, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site! For 2000 years, the Pont du Gard has been located halfway between the beautiful Roman city of Nîmes (27 km away) and Avignon (21 km away).
For more information, take a look over there, it’s perfectly explained. If you choose to use a car, consider carpooling by checking out our Facebook space or BlablaCar.
Where can I pick up my race bib?
It’s easy to pick up your race bib: it takes place in the reception buildings of the Pont du Gard Site on the right bank (Remoulins side). Please note that both parking areas at the Pont du Gard (right bank and left bank towards Vers-Pont-du-Gard) will be exceptionally free all day on Friday, November 8, 2024.
Bib pick-up hours
The bib pick-up will take place in two stages on the Pont du Gard Site (right bank reception):
- Friday, November 8th, 2024, from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm.
- Saturday, November 9th, 2024, from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for the 14 km run..
Piece of advice: prioritize picking up your bib on Friday (the day before the race), considering the expected high turnout. Note that you can send someone in your place, who will just need to present your bib pick-up card that will be sent to you by email a few days before the event.
To pick up your bib
FOR INDIVIDUAL PICK-UP:
> You must present your bib pick-up card, which will be sent to you by email a few days before the event, either printed out or on your smartphone (check your spam folder if you haven’t received it). Note: Your bib will not be issued if your file is incomplete (Providing the PPS or a valid sports license is mandatory for runners).
FOR MULTIPLE PICK-UP:
> Present the bib pick-up card for each participant (either printed or on a smartphone), which will be sent to you by email a few days before the event.

How do the bus shuttles work?

What's the best plan for sleeping and eating between Nîmes, Le Pont du Gard and Uzès?

The best place to sleep or eat? The best deals and ideas for visits? Since everyone has different tastes and budgets, check out our dedicated page created in partnership with Gard Tourism, where you should be able to find what you’re looking for.
During the Veni Vici weekend, where to park?
On the Pont du Gard Site:
– Friday, November 8, 2024: Parking will be exceptionally free at both parking areas (right bank and left bank) for the bib pickup day from 9 AM to 8 PM. Please note that vehicles are not allowed to park overnight at the Pont du Gard site.
– Saturday, November 9, 2024: The parking at the Pont du Gard site, which is also open to visitors, will be charged (9€ per vehicle for the entire day, which grants free access to the site for one year). Regardless of the number of people or the duration of the visit, payment should be made on-site at the automated kiosks located at the entrance of the buildings on each bank, or by credit card at the exit terminals. This payment will entitle you to free parking access for one year. After paying, visit www.abonnement.pontdugard.fr to return as often as you like over the next 12 months.
Please note that vehicles are not allowed to park on the Pont du Gard site at night.
Great tip: To save time, subscribe to your parking pass for the Pont du Gard site in advance online by going here. Purchasing this subscription will grant you annual access to the Pont du Gard parking lots (left bank and right bank). The vehicle’s license plate used during parking is essential for this subscription.
Park-and-ride facilities (free with non-stop shuttles) will also be set up near the Pont du Gard all day on Saturday, November 11. Their locations will be signposted and detailed parking information will be sent to all participants in advance of the event.
> In Nîmes: All informations regarding parking are available here: www.nimes-stationnement.fr

After the race
Are showers and toilets available?
For the bathrooms, the answer is YES. Fixed toilets are available on the Pont du Gard site and toilets will be provided at the starting points in Nîmes and at the finish line in Uzès to satisfy urgent needs before and after the race. Follow the signage on site and you can relax!
For showers, the answer is NO. You can’t have everything in life. On such magical sites as the Pont du Gard or the Duché d’Uzès, there is not a gymnasium in the immediate vicinity. A hot shower for thousands of participants, impossible!

Where to check the results after the race?

Will pictures be available after the race?
