This 72 km race is the iconic distance of la VENI VICI. It’s the most beautiful and diverse one. You will follow the entire Roman aqueduct in the same direction as the first edition (2021), with some exciting new features added to the program. If you were there in 2022, get ready to lose all your landmarks because it won’t be going up and down in the same places.
The race will start at 8:30 am on Saturday morning in the majestic Jardins de la Fontaine in Nîmes. You will immediately climb up, and passing by the Tour Magne will plunge you into the Roman atmosphere. You will leave Nîmes through the northern hills, and cross the charming Mas d’Escattes municipal park. As a fresh centurion, you will need to learn to manage your horse. The elevation gain and constant changes in terrain will be really tiring!
You will embark on a long ascent through the Gardoise scrubland with its sweet smells of thyme and rosemary, passing through villages and magical sites along the remains of the Roman aqueduct: the castles of Cabrières and Lédenon, the site of the amazing underground tunnels of Sernhac, dug by the Romans (where water flowed toward Nîmes), and St-Bonnet-du-Gard.
Then, as you approach the Pont du Gard, you will experience a festival of Roman history and culture, treading on the same ground as the Roman soldiers did 2,000 years ago. If you shed a tear at that moment, no one will blame you. You will head towards the village of Vers-Pont-du-Gard, where you will pass by the quarries that supplied the stones used to build the Roman aqueduct, which is still in use.
Afterwards, you will cross the charming villages of Argilliers and Saint-Maximin, after some winding through hills fragrant with thyme and rosemary. You will then face the final fireworks: the verdant ambiance of the Eure valley where the aqueduct of Nîmes had its source, and then the ascent towards the medieval alleys of the remarkable Duchy of Uzès, where the finish line awaits you. You will have earned the 2000 years of history and the triumphant smile that will accompany you!

This 44 km solo run is the perfect compromise to discover la Veni Vici. It’s a “marathon” distance that sits between the intimidating 72 km full course and the slightly short 26 km course that some may find too easy. After starting in the majestic Jardins de la Fontaine in Nîmes, where you’ll be immediately immersed in the Roman atmosphere with a passage at the foot of the Tour Magne, you will exit Nîmes through the northern hills, and cross the very charming municipal park of Mas d’Escattes.
You’ll then begin a long climb in the Gardoise garrigue, with its sweet smells of thyme and rosemary, passing through villages and magical sites along the ruins of the Roman aqueduct: the castles of Cabrières and Lédenon, the site of the astonishing underground tunnels of Sernhac, dug by the Romans (through which water flowed towards Nîmes), St-Bonnet-du-Gard, until the superb finish at the foot of the Pont du Gard, where the final descent of stairs will definitely give your legs a beating. If you feel overwhelmed with emotion, let it all out, that’s the effect of the Pont du Gard. Those Romans were definitely crazy.

The 27 km is the ideal compromise for those who don’t have the legs yet to do the full VENI VICI (72 km) or the 44 km between Nîmes and Le Pont du Gard.
You will depart at the foot of the superb Pont du Gard on Saturday noon under (normally) generous southern sunshine, in the opposite direction of last year’s course. You will be immediately immersed in the atmosphere of the remains of the Roman aqueduct, then you will head towards the village of Vers-Pont-du-Gard where you will walk alongside the quarries where the stones used to build the Pont du Gard were extracted (still in use).
You will then pass through the charming villages of Argilliers and Saint-Maximin, after a few twists and turns in the hills that will smell of thyme and rosemary. The only thing left to do will be to overcome the beautiful final fireworks with the verdant atmosphere of the Eure valley where the aqueduct of Nîmes had its source, then the medieval alleys of the remarkable Duchy of Uzès where the arrival awaits you. Enjoy 2000 years of history and a triumphant smile, young centurion!

Why should runners have all the fun? This 27 km “nordic walking” event, intended for sports walkers who don’t like to dawdle, allows them to play with their time and their hiking stick (allowed but not mandatory) for those who wish to. For the rest, it’s the same as for the 27 km runners: departure at the foot of the superb Pont du Gard on Saturday noon under a (normally) generous southern sun, in the opposite direction of the course proposed last year.

The 13 km race is the perfect distance to discover la VENI VICI while running. Even non-experts and occasional runners have a place on this race with its reasonable elevation gain (340 meters) and difficulty. It’s a good starting point before aiming for longer distances in the following years.
The ambiance is set from the start with a departure at the foot of the impressive Pont du Gard on Saturday morning under a southern sun. It’s difficult to find a more magical setting! You’ll run on a playful, lively, and green course on the best spots of the right and left banks, which will allow you to discover the best of the Pont du Gard site and gain height to dominate the monument listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. An unforgettable experience!

We want la VENI VICI to be a popular and friendly celebration, not only reserved for runners, and that honors the Gardois territory. This is done with this new “hiking” formula, open to anyone from 7 years old and that will offer the best of the Pont du Gard site. You have the right to love nature, history, heritage, and not care about the time!
This hike, ideal for a family audience, is a perfect way to discover the most emblematic part of the Nîmes aqueduct created in the 1st century at your own pace, without time limits. You can do it alone, with friends, or with family, as long as you were born before December 31st, 2016.
On a new and unique hiking trail that values the beautiful environment of the Pont du Gard site, you will have access to a real sports course (300 M+), identical to the one used by runners in the 13 km race.
Like all other participants, you will receive a nice Veni Vici T-shirt, a souvenir medal as soon as you cross the finish line, and a delicious beer brewed by a local artisan to speak about your race with your team.
