This 82 km race is the flagship distance of the VENI VICI. The most beautiful and varied. It was extended by 10 km last year to offer you a festival of Roman heritage, because, as the saying goes, “the longer, the better!” You’ll be treated to a full climb of the Roman aqueduct, in the opposite direction of the canal that supplied Nîmes over 2,000 years ago.
After a grand and historic start at the Nîmes Arena in the early morning, you’ll dive almost immediately into the heart of the race. With a few nice climbs right away, reminding you to stay focused. Easy now, aspiring centurion, at this point, the road is still long!
Get ready for a heritage festival starting in Roman Nîmes, with the Arena, the Maison Carrée, the lush slopes of the Jardins de la Fontaine, and the famous Tour Magne. When you reach the charming municipal park of Mas d’Escattes, you’ll be in the garrigue, with the winding Gard paths. The up-and-down climbs will follow one after another, at a fast pace, through villages and increasingly magical sites: Cabrières and Lédenon (with its castles), the surprising underground tunnels of Sernhac dug by the Romans (through which water once flowed to Nîmes), and then the magnificent ridges offering beautiful views of the plain and Mont Ventoux.
Once you’ve crossed Saint-Bonnet-du-Gard, you’ll be treated to a joyful series of downhill slopes leading to the superb and majestic Pont du Gard, which you’ll step on 2,000 years after the Roman soldiers. A guaranteed thrill, with a refreshment station perfectly timed to recharge your batteries.
You’ll then be immersed in history again as you follow the remains of the Roman aqueduct and its famous arches in Vers. You’ll pass through the charming village of Vers-Pont-du-Gard, where, at the exit, you’ll have the chance to run inside the aqueduct’s canal and alongside the quarries where the stones used to build the Pont du Gard were extracted (still in use today). Just that!
Next, you’ll tackle the hills filled with the scent of thyme and rosemary, passing through typically Gardian villages (Argilliers and Saint-Maximin), before heading toward the finish line in the Eure valley, where the Roman aqueduct of Nîmes had its source. Get ready for a beautiful final ascent toward the heart of medieval Uzès and its famous castle, where you’ll cross the finish line at its foot. You’ll be greeted by 2,000 years of history and a triumphant smile, young centurion!
At that point, you’ll have every opportunity to shout: “I came, I conquered, I survived!” And if you’re overwhelmed with emotion, let it all out—it was so BEAUTIFUL and GOOD! Those Romans were definitely crazy. Pure joy!

This 48 km solo race is the perfect balance to discover the Veni Vici. It’s a “marathon” distance, somewhere in between the full 82 km (which scares some people) and the 27 km that others find a bit too short. After a grand and historic start at the Nîmes Arena, you’ll dive almost immediately into the heart of the race. With a few nice climbs right away, reminding you to stay focused. The 27 km is the perfect compromise for those who aren’t quite ready for the full VENI VICI (82 km) between the Nîmes Arena and the Duchy of Uzès or the 48 km between Nîmes and the Pont du Gard. You’ll start at the foot of the majestic Pont du Gard on Saturday at 3:00 PM under (hopefully) a generous southern sun, in the opposite direction of the route offered last year.
You will immediately be immersed in a lush, historical atmosphere as you follow the remains of the Roman aqueduct and its famous arches. Then, you’ll pass through the charming village of Vers-Pont-du-Gard, where, at the exit, you’ll have the chance to run through the aqueduct’s canal and along the quarries where the stones were extracted to build the Pont du Gard (still in use). Next, you’ll continue through the hills that smell of thyme and rosemary, passing through typically Gard villages (Argilliers and Saint-Maximin), before heading toward the finish line towards the valley of Eure, where the Roman aqueduct of Nîmes originated. Then, it’s your turn for the beautiful final climb towards the heart of medieval Uzès and its famous castle, at the foot of which you’ll cross the finish line, mostly in the dark for most participants. 2000 years of history are yours, with a triumphant smile, young centurion!

As for the rest, it’s the same as for the 27 km runners: departure at the foot of the imposing Pont du Gard on Saturday morning under (hopefully) a generous southern sun, in the opposite direction of the route offered last year.

We want VENI VICI to be a beautiful, popular, and friendly event, not only reserved for runners but also showcasing the Gard region. This is achieved with the new ‘hike’ formula, open to ages 7 and up, offering a best-of experience of the Pont du Gard site. It’s okay to love nature, history, heritage, and not worry about the clock!
This hike, perfect for families, is an ideal way to discover the most iconic part of the Nîmes aqueduct, built in the 1st century, at your own pace, without time constraints. It’s suitable for individuals, friends, or families, as long as they were born before December 31, 2018.
On an unprecedented hiking trail that showcases the stunning environment of the Pont du Gard site, you’ll experience a true sports course (320 meters elevation gain), slightly smoother and less technical than the 16 km run.
Like all other participants, you’ll enjoy a lovely refreshment station and a delicious beer or lemonade brewed by a local artisan to ‘replay the match’ as a team at the finish line.
