This 48 km solo race is the perfect balance to discover the Veni Vici. It’s a “marathon” distance, somewhere in between the full 82 km (which scares some people) and the 27 km that others find a bit too short. After a grand and historic start at the Nîmes Arena, you’ll dive almost immediately into the heart of the race. With a few nice climbs right away, reminding you to stay focused. Easy now, aspiring centurion, at this point, the road is still long!
Get ready for a heritage festival starting in Roman Nîmes, with the Arena, the Maison Carrée, the lush slopes of the Jardins de la Fontaine, and the famous Tour Magne. When you reach the charming municipal park of Mas d’Escattes, you’ll be in the garrigue, with the winding Gard paths. The up-and-down climbs will follow one after the other, at a fast pace, through villages and increasingly magical sites: Cabrières and Lédenon (with its castles), the surprising underground tunnels of Sernhac dug by the Romans (through which water once flowed to Nîmes), and then the magnificent ridges offering beautiful views of the plain and Mont Ventoux.
Once you’ve crossed St-Bonnet-du-Gard, you’ll be treated to a joyful series of downhill slopes leading to the superb and majestic Pont du Gard, where your finish will be celebrated at its foot.
At that point, you’ll certainly have all the freedom to shout: “I came, I conquered, I survived!” And if you feel overwhelmed with emotion, let it all out—it was just so BEAUTIFUL and GOOD! Those Romans were definitely crazy. It’s pure joy!

[ Do not rely on the elevation gain indicated on Openrunner below. The mapping tool—which we love otherwise—has some difficulty capturing the countless steep climbs that characterize the challenging and dynamic terrain of the Veni Vici. We won’t hold it against them, as the routes drawn in our beautiful Gard scrubland have left many participants bewildered. ]
