87 KM AND 52 KM: A NEW FINISH LINE IN NÎMES

Due to the potential risk of public demonstrations in the city centre this Saturday, 7 November, it has been decided, following consultation with the State authorities and the City of Nîmes, to relocate the finish line, which was originally scheduled to be on the forecourt of the Arena. The Veni Vici finish line will now be at Fort Vauban (University of Nîmes), an iconic part of Nîmes’ heritage, just a stone’s throw from the Castellum Divisorium, the endpoint of the Roman aqueduct that supplied the city with water in Antiquity.

We understand the disappointment of those taking part in the 87 KM and 52 KM races, who were looking forward to finishing on the Arena track. However, just four days before the Veni Vici, the risk of public disorder is simply too high.

Trust us: the finish at Vauban will be just as magical and emotional. We’ll make sure of it!

You will still run through the Jardins de la Fontaine; only the final 1.5 km of the route will be changed. This unique finish will give you the opportunity to discover the former 17th-century citadel, which is now home to the main campus of the University of Nîmes.

18 KM AND 16 KM HIKE: A UNIQUE FINISH AT THE PONT DU GARD

As for the 18 KM race and the 16 KM hike, the heavy rainfall of recent weeks has also forced us to modify the final section of the routes, adding a little bonus of approximately 1 km.

But you certainly won’t be losing out! You’ll enjoy one of the most breathtaking views of the Pont du Gard before crossing the finish line. It’s hard to imagine a more beautiful way to end your Veni Vici adventure!

87 KM, 33 KM AND 33 KM NORDIC WALKING: A SURPRISE AT THE VERS QUARRIES

And finally, we have a wonderful surprise for you. For the first time ever, all routes starting in Uzès will pass through the La Pierre du Pont du Gard Authentique site in Vers-Pont-du-Gard.

Get ready to immerse yourself in the history of the Nîmes aqueduct and the Pont du Gard. The quarry is still in operation and is believed to be one of the places from which the stone used to build the aqueduct was extracted. More than ever, you’ll be following in the footsteps of those remarkable Romans who, 2,000 years ago, left us one of the most magnificent monuments of Antiquity.

VENI, (WE HOPE YOU) VIDI, VICI!

The Veni Vici must adapt to the realities of our times and to the conditions on the ground. But rest assured: the essentials will remain unchanged this Saturday – the rugged landscapes, trails scented with thyme and rosemary, ancient and medieval heritage… and above all, the unforgettable emotions you’ll experience throughout your journey.

Thank you to all 11,000 aspiring centurions for placing your trust in us and travelling from further and further afield. See you this Saturday, 7 November, for the 6th edition – one that we hope will remain forever etched in your memory!
